RUN FOR RECOVERY

A community endurance event supporting recovery access in Kansas City

A sober community run

Recovery shouldn’t depend on your bank account

Run for Recovery KC is a Kansas City-based run created to help cover the cost of recovery services for people who are ready to seek help but can’t afford treatment on their own.

This is isn’t about awareness. It’s about access.

Why this Exists

For a lot of people, the hardest part of recovery isn’t deciding to get help.

It’s finding a way to pay for it.

Insurance gaps, required self-pay, and limited coverage means many people are turned away at the exact moment they’re to get care. When that moment passes, the opportunity often does too.

What does the endurance event supports

Money is raised through Run for Recovery KC and helps cover recovery-related costs through licensed providers in the Greater Kansas City area.

That includes things like treatment, sober living and transitional recovery services.

The funds are applied directly to services through participating providers. Money is not given directly to individuals.

How are the funds handled

The funds and/or scholarships are provider driven.

Recovery providers identify individuals who are seeking or have entered care and face financial barriers. Providers apply funds directly to services based on need and readiness.

Event organizers are not involved in individual decisions and do not access any personal or health information.

This keeps the process private, ethicals and grounded in personal judgement.

Accountability

The fund will be administered by a nonprofit fiscal partner. Funds are managed separately and distributed according to charitable giving standards.

Providers certify appropriate used of funds. Annual summaries will reflect total funds raised and the number of individuals supported.
